a form of thrombotic microangiopathy usually seen in adults, characterized by thrombocytopenia with thromboses in terminal arterioles and capillaries; other symptoms include hemolytic anemia, azotemia, fever, and bizarre neurological manifestations. Some authorities consider it identical to the hemolytic uremic syndrome. Called also microangiopathic or microangiopathic hemolytic anemia and Moschcowitz's disease.
