A defect in engine turning caused either by a loss of concentration on the part of the engine turner or a small pice of dirt under the guide. On automatic machines streaks may also be caused by incorrectly ground or blunt tools, but the streaks would then be all over the work piece. Streaks always follow the direction of cut.
