An organ consisting of lymphatic tissue differentiated into white and red pulp. In the embryo, the spleen forms all types of blood cells, but in the adult, only lymphocytes and monocytes. If adult bone marrow is damaged, the spleen can release old blood cells. It filters blood, removing bacteria, particulate matter and aged or non-functioning platelets and other red blood cells. The spleen is associated with the Disciple Degree.
