    온도 자극을 수용함으로써 일어나는 피부 감각. 온 자극에 대한 온각과 냉 자극에 대한 냉각으로 분화하며, 감각점으로는 온점과 냉점이 구별되는데 그 수는 냉점이 온점보다 많다. 또, 냉점이 온점보다 표면에 존재하며 민감하다. 오랫동안 같은 온도에 자극되면 순응이 일어나 온도 감각이 소실된다. 일반적으로 16∼40 ℃ 범위 내의 자극 온도에서는 약 3초 후면 순응이 일어난다. 이 범위를 무관 온도 나비 또는 조절 온도라고 한다. 손에서는 33 ℃ 전후에서 순응이 일어나며, 33∼40 ℃에서 온감을 느끼고, 40∼45 ℃에서는 냉감이나 열감, 또는 자통이 생긴다. 10~33 ℃까지는 냉감을 느끼며, 3~10 ℃가 되면 자통도 일어난다. 뜨거움은 온점과 냉점이 동시에 자극을 받아 느껴지는 것이다. 또, 고온이나 저온에서 느끼는 자통은 통점도 동시에 자극되기 때문이다. 다만 고온 자극에 의하여 일어나는 냉감은 모순 냉감 또는 모순 냉각이라 하며 냉각의 민감성에 의한 것이다. 반대로 저온 자극으로 생기는 모순 온감은 정상인에게는 일어나지 않는 현상으로 냉점을 마취시키면 저온에서도 온점이 자극되어 온감이 생기는 현상을 말한다.
