Someone employed by the Boss to take the place of a worker either on Strike or Locked Out. Usually a non-union member the scab will be paid more than the worker, and maybe shipped in from outside the district if local feeling sides with the worker. Police are often called in to ensure the safety of the scab. Scabs are despised by unions, workers they replace and others who associate themselves to the cause. In NZ's history the Army has been called in to take the place of striking workers.
