| musculus serratus posterior superior | <anatomy> Origin, from spinous processes of two lower cervical and two upper thoracic vertebrae; insertion, into lateral side of angles of second to fifth ribs; nerve supply, first to fourth intercostals. | posterior superior iliac spine | The posterior extremity of the iliac crest, the uppermost point of attachment of the sacrotuberous and posterior sacroiliac ligaments; a readily apparent dimple occurs in the skin overlying the posterior superior iliac spine which is clinically useful as an indication of the level of the S-2 vertebra, the level of the inferior limit of the subarachnoid space. Synonym: spina iliaca posterior superior. (05 Mar 2000) |
| posterior superior lateral nasal branches of pterygopalatine ganglion | Branches of pterygopalatine ganglion to upper posterior part of lateral wall of nasal cavity, including superior and middle nasal concha/meatuses, and posterior ethmoidal sinuses. Synonym: rami nasales posteriores superiores laterales ganglii pterygopalatini. (05 Mar 2000) |

| ramus | A standard medical dictionary contains over 13 pages full of entries to the word ramus. Why? because ramus in latin means a branch and all sorts of anatomic items such as blood vessels and nerves quite naturally have branches. So, for example, medicine is plagued with the likes of the ramus acetabularis arteriae circumflexae femoris medialis which is simply the branch of an artery that goes to the acetabulum (the socket) of the hip joint. (12 Dec 1998) |
| ramus acetabularis | An arterial branch that supplies the acetabulum; two arteries, the obturator and the medial femoral circumflex, have such branches. Synonym: ramus acetabularis, acetabular artery, arteria acetabuli. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ramus acromialis arteriae suprascapularis | <anatomy, artery> Branch of suprascapular artery which pierces the origin of the trapezius muscle to run to the acromion; anastomoses, acromial branch of thoracoacromial artery. Synonym: ramus acromialis arteriae suprascapularis. (05 Mar 2000) |
