Those planned and systematic actions necessary to provide adequate confidence that a facility, structure, system, or component will perform satisfactorily and safely in service. Quality assurance includes quality control. If quality is the degree to which an item or process meets or exceeds the user's requirements, then quality assurance is those actions that provide the confidence that quality was in fact achieved.
