| hepatic insufficiency | Defective functional activity of the liver cells. (05 Mar 2000) |

| pulmonary insufficiency | Pulmonary here refers to the valve between the right ventricle of the heart and the pulmonary artery. If this valve is insufficient (incompetant) in its performance, blood sloshes back from the pulmonary artery into the right ventricle. (12 Dec 1998) |
| pulmonary valve insufficiency | Backflow of blood from the pulmonary artery into the right ventricle, owing to imperfect functioning of the pulmonary valve. (12 Dec 1998) |
| pyloric insufficiency | Patulousness of the pyloric outlet of the stomach, allowing regurgitation of duodenal contents into the stomach. (05 Mar 2000) |
| divergence insufficiency | That condition in which an exophoria or exotropia is more marked for near vision than for far vision. (05 Mar 2000) |
| divergence insufficiency exotropia | Exotropia in which the strabismus is notably greater for near vision than for far vision. (05 Mar 2000) |
| insufficiency | The condition of being insufficient or inadequate to the performance of the allotted duty. Origin: L. Insufficientia, from sufficiens = sufficient (18 Nov 1997) |
| thyroid insufficiency | Subnormal secretion of hormones by the thyroid gland. See: hypothyroidism. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tricuspid insufficiency | See: valvular insufficiency. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tricuspid valve insufficiency | Backflow of blood from the right ventricle into the right atrium, owing to imperfect functioning of the tricuspid valve. (12 Dec 1998) |
| exocrine pancreatic insufficiency | Lack of exocrine secretions of pancreas, due to destruction of acini, usually by chronic pancreatitis; lack of digestive enzymes from pancreas results in diarrhoea, usually fatty (steatorrhoea) because of lack of pancreatic enzymes. (05 Mar 2000) |
| uterine insufficiency | Atony of the uterine musculature. (05 Mar 2000) |
| acute primary haemorrhagic meningoencephalitis | A disease characterised by acute onset of fever, followed by convulsions, delirium, and coma, and associated with perivascular demyelination and haemorrhagic foci in the central nervous system. Synonym: acute primary haemorrhagic meningoencephalitis, Strumpell's disease. (05 Mar 2000) |
| acyclic monoterpene primary alcohol - NADP oxidoreductase | <enzyme> From catmint nepeta racemosa; involved in the biosynthesis of iridoid monoterpenes; oxidises geraniol, nerol, and their 10-hydroxy derivatives in the presence of nadp(+). Registry number: EC 1.1.1.- Synonym: monoterpene primary alcohol - nadp oxidoreductase, ampano (26 Jun 1999) |
| anterior primary division | <anatomy, nerve> The larger, anterolaterally-directed major terminal branch (with the dorsal primary ramus) of all 31 pairs of mixed spinal nerves, formed at the intervertebral foramen. Most ventral primary rami, especially those involved in the innervation of the limbs, participate in the formation of the major nerve plexuses (cervical, brachial, and lumbosacral) and lose their identities. Most in the thoracic region, however, remain separate from adjacent rami to become the intercostal and subcostal nerves. Ventral primary rami provide innervation to the anterolateral body wall and trunk. Nomina Anatomica lists ventral primary rami as "rami ventrales" for each group of spinal nerves: 1) cervical (nervorum cervicalium ), 2) thoracic (nervorum thoracicorum ), 3) lumbar (nervorum lumbalium ), 4) sacral (nervorum sacralium )m, and 5) coccygeal (nervi coccygei ). Synonym: ramus ventralis nervi spinalis, anterior primary division. (05 Mar 2000) |
