pharmacogenomics the study of the differences among a number of drugs/compounds with regard to a defined gene expression response (ie, genes that dictate drug behavior). The aim of pharmacogenomics is to optimize therapeutic efficiency by predicting an/or interpreting a patient's response to a drug based on his/her genetic (DNA) makeup. The method employed in the realization of this goal is known as genotyping.
