The term used for lymphomas that originate in the lining of the intestinal tract or closely associated glandular tissue. The stomach is the most frequent site of this type of lymphoma. The bacterium that causes stomach ulcers, Helicobacter pylori can result in an immune reaction in the lining of the stomach that increases the risk of a lymphoma developing in that site.
