chronic, progressive metastatic spread of the lesions of New World cutaneous leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania viannia braziliensis to the nasal, pharyngeal, and buccal mucosa months to years after the appearance of the initial cutaneous lesion, which has usually healed. It is often associated with mutilating destruction of the nasal septum, palate, lips, pharynx, and larynx. Called also espundia.
