| linear regression |
Linear regression is the process of fitting the best possible straight line through a series of points. Linear regression is often used to reduce a set of calibration points to a simple mathematical relationship (that can, for example, be implemented on a computer) or deduce the underlying trends from a set of measurements that are expected, on theoretical grounds to follow a straight line.
