an autosomal recessive disease of cattle in Europe and North America in which calves around one month of age develop exanthems and parakeratosis on the legs, head, and neck; growth is stunted and they may die within three months. The cause is deficient uptake of zinc by the intestine, and zinc supplements may be curative. Called also Adema disease.
