| 설명 | 눈을 한곳에 고정시킨 채, 관찰할 수 있는 주변공간을 시야라 한다. 시야를 검사하는 가장 간단한 방법은 대면검사(confronting test)이다. 이것은 피검사자의 눈을 검사자의 눈에 맞추어 보도록 하여 눈을 고정시킨채, 검사자가 손가락끝을 위쪽, 아래쪽, 왼쪽, 오른쪽, 그리고 비스듬히 경사진 곳 등으로 옮겨보아 피검사자가 관찰할 수 있는지 여부를 정하는 검사법이다. 이보다 정확한 검사법은 자동식 컴퓨터시야검사법이 있다. 대개, 눈자체의 이상이 있어도 시야검사에서 이상이 나오지만, 이외 뇌의 이상으로 시각의 형성경로에 이상이 있어도 역시 이상소견을 보인다. |

| 설명 | 인물화 성격검사는 처음에는 지능검사로 개발되었고, 그 후에는 사람의 무의식의 요소를 검사하는 방법으로 발전하였다. 검사재료는 지우개가 있는 연필과 백지를 피검자에게 주고, 사람을 그려보라는 지시를 하며, 검사자는 그리는 순서와 평가를 기록하고, 다 그린 후에는 먼저와 다른 이성을 그리도록 한다. 이 검사에서의 신체의 모양은 곧 자아상을 반영한다는 입장, 그림에서 강조된 기관은 의사소통수단, 관념화, 욕구체계, 성적 능력, 갈등, 좌절경험, 성장력 등을 반영한다고 한다. 이것은 아동과 성인에게 개별적 또는 집단적으로 실시할 수 있고, 간편하면서도 유익한 것이다. 임상적으로는 뇌의 기질적 변화를 알아내기 위한 목적으로도 많이 이용된다. |

| 설명 | 1905년 프랑스의 비네가 정신박약아를 일반아동으로부터 판별하기 위하여 작성한 것이 지능검사의 시작이다. 지능검사는 그의 목적으로부터 일반적 지능검사와 진단용 지능검사로 나눠지고, 실시방법에서 개인용(개별식)과 집단용(단체식)으로 분류되고 또 문제의 내용으로부터 언어성검사(A식 또는 α식)와 비언어성검사(B식 β식)로 나눠진다. 지능검사의 결과의 표시법은 정신연령(mental age, MA), 지능지수(intelligence quotient, IQ), 지능편차치(intelligence standard score, ISS)등이 있다. 지능검사에는 역사적으로 비네식과 육군식의 두 계통이 있다. 비네식은 검사자가 개별적으로 한 개 문항씩 질문을 하면 이에 대하여 피검사자가 말이나 행동으로 응답하는 방법(개별식-문답식)이고, 육군식은 일반적인 방식으로는 인쇄된 문제용지를 사용하여 피검사자가 소정의 시간 내에 되도록 많이 바르게(시간제한법) 회답을 기입한다(필기법). 한국 최초의 지능검사는 1954년 서울대학교 사범대학 교육심리연구실에서 제작한 간편 지능검사이다. 간편 지능검사 이후 다수의 집단 지능검사가 출현하였는데 비교적 최근에 표준화된 지능검사로는 한국행동과학연구소가 1984년에 전국 고등학교 학생을 대상으로 제작한 KIT-S 지능검사가 있다. |

| 설명 | 귀가 들리는 정도를 측정하는 검사. 청각검사라고도 한다. 소리나 목소리가 잘 들리는지의 여부 등 청각의 예민한 정도를 측정하는 일이다. 검사에는 청력계나 소리굽쇠 등의 기구에 의해서 얻는 음원, 즉 순음을 사용하며, 사람의 목소리나 시계소리 등도 음원으로 사용된다. 또 음파가 전파되는 매질에 따라 기도 청력검사와 골도 청력검사로 구별되기도 한다. 검사의 내용으로는 청각의 상하음계나 최소 가청문턱값의 검사를 비롯하여, 충분히 들리는 소리를 사용하여 그것이 들리는 상태를 조사하는 문턱값검사(소리의 크기와 상태의 검사, 세기의 판별역검사 등) 외에 음향자극의 반응으로부터 타각적으로 조사하는 방법도 있으며, 이것은 주로 갓난아기나 정신병환자에 대하여 사용된다. 주로 청력계가 사용되고, 청력은 데시벨(dB)로 표시된다. 정상인은 0dB이고, 난청자일수록 그 수가 커지며, 60dB이상은 상당히 난청이고, 80dB 이상이면 귀머거리이다. |

| mumps in pregnancy | It has been stated, we believe erroneously, that mumps is dangerous when contracted during pregnancy. For example, vetter (infect med 14:730-733, 1997), citing a single 1980 article, writes: mumps infection during the first trimester of pregnancy can increase the rate of spontaneous abortion. Congenital anomalies associated with mumps infection during pregnancy include endocardial fibroelastosis; imperforate anus; spina bifida; and auditory, optic, and urogenital deformities. However, shepard in his authorative catalog of teratogenic agents (j hopkins u press, 8th edition, 1995) does not consider that mumps merits inclusion as a proven or even possible teratogenic agent, that is as an agent capable of causing a spontaneous abortion (a miscarriage) or causing congenital malformations (the baby is born with birth defects). Furthermore, mumps does not even warrant mention in smith's recognizable patterns of human malformation (by kl jones, wb saunders co., 5th edition, 1997), a key standard text on dysmorphology (the study of malformations). Based also on our review of the facts available at this time (oct, 1997), we conclude that there is insufficient evidence to label mumps as a particular hazard in pregnancy. (12 Dec 1998) |
