HTLV-I is closely related to HTLV-II (60% of their genomes are identical). Type II: A human, single-stranded RNA retrovirus from the subfamily Oncovirinae which may cause diseases such as T-cell leukaemia and T-cell lymphoma (but this has not been proven). HTLV-II is closely related to HTLV I (60% of their genomes are identical). | gastroenteritis virus type B | <virology> Genus of the Reoviridae having a double layered capsid and 11 double stranded RNA molecules in the genome. They have a wheel like appearance in the electron microscope and cause acute diarrhoeal disease in their mammalian and avian hosts. Probably the most important cause of severe dehydrating diarrhoea in children under three years of age worldwide. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, low-grade fever and diarrhoea. | antithrombin III | <haematology> Antithrombin III is a protein which stimulates the removal of blood clots in the bloodstream. Small blood clots form normally within the bloodstream, but are normally dissolved via the bodys antithrombin III. Conditions that may have an associated low value of antithrombin III include: liver disease and DIC. Normal values are: 0.20 to 0.45 mg/ml or more than 50% of the laboratory control value. Conditions where there is a deficiency of this important protease inhibitor can result in a condition of hypercoagulation, resulting in an increased risk for blood clot formation.
