| Chick-Martin m. |
a method for testing the bactericidal value of disinfectants for water supplies in the presence of organic matter. The procedure originally incorporated 3 per cent human feces. In the revised method, serial dilutions of disinfectant are incubated with a specified quantity of yeast and Salmonella typhi for a period of 30 minutes. The effectiveness is expressed by the ratio: effective concentration of phenol divided by effective concentration of test disinfectant (Chick-Martin coefficient).
