cadmium A metal found in natural deposits. It is sometimes found in drinking water due to corrosion of galvanized pipes. Exposure to high levels can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle cramps, salivation, sensory disturbances, liver injury, convulsions, shock and renal failure.
