audio- Audio refers to sound. Sound is actually waves of air pressure that strike our eardrums and cause them to vibrate. Optimally, the human ear is capable of discerning frequencies within the 20Hz to 20,000Hz range. Typically, most adults over 30 have about a 40Hz to 17,000Hz range. The main task of an audio system is to transform electrical signals into air pressure waves that are as close as possible to the originally recorded sound.
