arrhythmia Erratic heart beating. Abnormal heart beats are extra electrical impulses that may originate in the upper (atrial) chambers of the heart, known as premature atrial contractions (PACA or in the lower (ventricular) heart chambers, PVCs (premature ventricular contractions).
