Antihistamines are medications that block the action of histamine. They do this by stopping histamine from attaching to sites in the body from where it can cause an allergic reaction. Effective at treating an itchy, runny nose, and sneezing, although they are less good at treating a blocked nose. They are usually taken as tablets.
