| lymphoma, large-cell | A form of malignant lymphoma in which the malignant cells resemble histiocytes morphologically but are presently considered to be derived from lymphoid elements. These cells are irregular in shape with relatively abundant, frequently acidophilic cytoplasm. | lymphoma, large-cell, ki-1 | A large-cell, non-hodgkin's, malignant lymphoma with pleomorphic appearance and reactivity with the monoclonal antibody ki-1. The lymphoma is most often found in the skin and lymph nodes and expresses the ki-1 (CD30) antigen (antigens, CD30) on its surface. | paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria | <haematology> A rare blood disorder caused by antibodies which destroy red blood cells upon exposure to the cold. The antibodies are formed against a specific blood group and are triggered by the cold. The cause is unknown but the disease has been associated with syphilis and some viral infections. Serum haemoglobin and urine haemoglobin are increased during the attacks. The disease is chronic and treatment is difficult. Some cases resolve spontaneously without treatment. Origin: Gr.
