A dominant genetic disorder in which a protein is produced abnormally, leading to the breakdown in the parts of the brain that control movement.

| Huntington's chorea |
A fatal inherited disorder which has no cure. A progressive loss of mental functioning due to brain-cell death. Ten to twenty years after the onset of symptoms, victims will die; although they become little more than mindless organisms prior to the end. Science can identify some carriers of the Huntington's gene in utero.

an autosomal dominant disease characterized by chronic progressive chorea and mental deterioration terminating in dementia; the age of onset is variable but usually in the fourth decade of life, with death within 15 years. Called also chronic progressive hereditary c., degenerative c., hereditary c., and Huntington's disease.
