a benign, usually self-limited granulomatous disease of unknown etiology, chiefly involving the dermis, clinically characterized by annularly grouped, localized or disseminated, perforating papules or subcutaneous nodules, which predominantly affects female children. Histopathologic findings include the presence of palisading histiocytes surrounding foci of altered collagen (necrobiosis) in the mid and upper dermis.
