Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a retrovirus, a virus in which genetic information is contained in RNA instead of DNA. All retroviruses, including feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), produce an enzyme called reverse transcriptase.
