The vaccine may be either fluid (diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and pertussis vaccine [USP]) or adsorbed on an aluminum-adsorbing agent (diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and pertussis vaccine adsorbed [USP]). The pertussis vaccine component may be either whole-cell or acellular; when it is acellular, the combination is abbreviated DTaP.
