dacryostenosis <ophthalmology> A blocked nasolacrimal duct which normally carries tears from the eyes to the nose.
Commonly seen in infants, but usually resolves spontaneously by age 2-3. In adults blockage can occur from chronic sinusitis or trauma. A gentle massage of the lacrimal gland 2-3 times a day for several months may reopen the tear duct.

dactinomycin <chemical> An antitumour antibiotic derived from streptomyces parvullus. It binds to DNA and inhibits RNA synthesis (transcription), with chain elongation more sensitive than initiation, termination, or release. As a result of impaired mRNA production, protein synthesis also declines after dactinomycin therapy.
Pharmacological action: antibiotics, antineoplastic, antibiotics, peptide, nucleic acid synthesis inhibitors, protein synthesis inhibitor.
