vomiting and wasting d. a disease of pigs caused by infection with the hemagglutinating encephalomyelitis virus; the virus is endemic in many parts of the world and only occasionally causes symptoms. The disease varies from acute encephalomyelitis that can be fatal in a few days to anorexia, vomiting, and wasting that can last for two or three weeks without being fatal. Called also Ontario encephalitis and hemagglutinating encephalomyelitis virus d. of pigs.
