vesicular stomatitis A vesicular disease of horses, cattle, swine, and occasionally man caused by a vesiculovirus (vesicular stomatitis virus); in horses and cattle the disease usually causes mouth vesicles which, in cattle, cannot be differentiated clinically from those of foot-and-mouth disease.
