| ruptured appendix | <surgery> Advanced appendicitis (delayed surgery) can result in a ruptured appendix. The fever usually becomes high-grade (over 101 degrees Fahrenheit) and the white blood cell count that typically exceeds 20,000 cells per cubic millimetre.
