ramus posterior sulci lateralis cerebri The long, posteriorly-directed continuation of the lateral cerebral sulcus which extends between the temporal lobe inferiorly and the parietal lobe superiorly, its termination surrounded by the supramarginal gyrus.
Synonym: ramus posterior sulci lateralis cerebri.

vena cerebri anterior <anatomy, vein> A small vein that parallels the anterior cerebral artery and drains into the basal vein.
Synonym: vena cerebri anterior.
(05 Mar 2000)
vena cerebri magna A large, unpaired vein formed by the junction of the two internal cerebral veins in the caudal part of the tela choroidea of the third ventricle; it passes caudally between the splenium of the corpus callosum and the pineal gland, curving dorsally to merge with the inferior sagittal sinus to form the straight sinus.
Synonym: vena cerebri magna, great cerebral vein, great vein of Galen.
(05 Mar 2000)
vena cerebri media profunda <anatomy, vein> The vein that accompanies the middle cerebral artery in the depths of the lateral sulcus and empties into the basal vein of Rosenthal.
Synonym: vena cerebri media profunda.
(05 Mar 2000)
vena cerebri media superficialis <anatomy, vein> A large vein passing along the line of the sylvian fissure to join the cavernous sinus; it communicates with the superior sagittal sinus and transverse sinus via the superior and inferior anastomotic veins, respectively.
Synonym: vena cerebri media superficialis.
(05 Mar 2000)
margo inferior cerebri The irregular, discontinuous margin of the cerebral hemisphere at the junction of the inferior and superolateral surfaces.
Synonym: margo inferolateralis, inferolateral margin.
(05 Mar 2000)
margo medialis cerebri The irregular border of the cerebral hemisphere at the junction of the inferior and medial surfaces.
Synonym: margo inferomedialis, inferomedial margin.
(05 Mar 2000)
margo superior cerebri The curved margin of the cerebral hemisphere at the junction of the superolateral and medial surfaces.
Synonym: margo superomedialis, superomedial margin.
(05 Mar 2000)
pars anterior commissurae anterioris cerebri The anterior part of the anterior or rostral commissure of the brain.
Synonym: pars anterior commissurae rostralis, pars anterior commissurae anterioris cerebri.
(05 Mar 2000)
pars postcommunicalis arteria cerebri anterior <anatomy, artery> The continuation of the anterior cerebral artery after the anterior communicating artery; it supplies branches to the cerebral cortex as it passes along the corpus callosum.
Synonym: pars postcommunicalis arteria cerebri anterior, arteria pericallosa, postcommunical part of anterior cerebral artery.
(05 Mar 2000)
pars precommunicalis arteriae cerebri anterior pars precommunicalis arteriae cerebri anterior
glioblastosis cerebri A diffuse intracranial neoplasm of astrocytic origin.
Synonym: astrocytosis cerebri, glioblastosis cerebri.
(05 Mar 2000)
gliomatosis cerebri A diffuse intracranial neoplasm of astrocytic origin.
Synonym: astrocytosis cerebri, glioblastosis cerebri.
(05 Mar 2000)
medial sulcus of crus cerebri A groove in the lateral wall of the interpeduncular fossa of the midbrain from which the rootlets of the oculomotor nerve emerge.
Synonym: sulcus medialis cruris cerebri, sulcus nervi oculomotorii, sulcus of the oculomotor nerve.
(05 Mar 2000)
pedunculus cerebri Originally denoting either of the two halves of the midbrain (a relatively narrow "neck" connecting the forebrain to the hindbrain); this term has been variably used to designate only those large bundles of corticofugal fibres forming the crus cerebri, or to designate the crus cerebri plus the midbrain tegmentum; this latter more inclusive usage (crus cerebri and midbrain tegmentum) is preferred; the substantia nigra, while a part of the base of the peduncle (basis pedunculi), is considered a structure separating the midbrain tegmentum from the crus cerebri.
See: crus cerebri.
Synonym: pedunculus cerebri.
