| musculus transversus auriculae | <anatomy> A band of sparse muscular fibres on the cranial surface of the auricle, extending from the eminence of the concha to the eminence of the scapha. Synonym: musculus transversus auriculae, transverse muscle of auricle. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| musculus transversus linguae | An intrinsic muscle of the tongue, the fibres of which arise from the septum and radiate to the dorsum and sides; action, decreases lateral dimension of the tongue; nerve supply, hypoglossal for motor, lingual for sensory. Synonym: musculus transversus linguae. (05 Mar 2000) |
| musculus transversus menti | <anatomy> Inconstant fibres of the depressor anguli oris musculus continue into the neck and cross to the opposite side inferior to the chin. Synonym: musculus transversus menti, transverse muscle of chin. (05 Mar 2000) |
| musculus transversus perinei profundus | <anatomy, muscle> Origin, ramus of ischium; insertion, with its fellow in a median raphe; action, assists sphincter urethrae with some sphincteric action on vagina in female; nerve supply, pudendal (dorsal nerve of penis/clitoris). Synonym: musculus transversus perinei profundus, deep transverse muscle of perineum, musculus sphincter vaginae, sphincter vaginae. (05 Mar 2000) |
| musculus transversus perinei superficialis | <anatomy> An inconstant muscle; origin, ramus of ischium; insertion, central tendon of perineum; action, draws back and fixes the central tendon of the perineum; nerve supply, pudendal (perineal). Synonym: musculus transversus perinei superficialis, superficial transverse muscle of perineum, Theile's muscle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| musculus transversus thoracis | transversus thoracis muscle |
| processus transversus | A bony protrusion on either side of the arch of a vertebra, from the junction of the lamina and pedicle, which functions as a lever for attached muscles. Synonym: processus transversus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| sinus transversus | A paired dural venous sinus that drains the confluence of sinuses, running along the occipital attachment of the tentorium cerebelli and terminating in the sigmoid sinus. Synonym: sinus transversus, lateral sinus. Transverse pericardial sinus, a passage in the pericardial sac between the origins of the great vessels, i.e., posterior to the intrapericardial portions of the pulmonary trunk and ascending aorta and anterior to the superior vena cava and superior to the atria; it is formed as a result of the flexure of the heart tube, partially approximating the great venous and arterial vessels. Synonym: sinus transversus pericardii, Theile's canal, transverse sinus of pericardium. (05 Mar 2000) |
| sinus transversus pericardii | transverse pericardial sinus |
| situs transversus | <disease> Condition in which the normal asymmetry of the body (in respect of circulatory system and intestinal coiling) is reversed. Interesting because it occurs in approximately 50% of patients with immotile cilia syndrome, a disorder of ciliary dynein. (10 Oct 1997) |
| nervus transversus colli | <anatomy, nerve> A branch of the cervical plexus that supplies the skin over the anterior triangle of the neck. Synonym: nervus transversus colli, cutaneous cervical nerve, nervus cervicalis superficialis, superficial cervical nerve, transverse nerve of neck. (05 Mar 2000) |
