| ansae nervorum spinalium | Loops of the spinal nerves, connecting ventral primary rami of the spinal nerves. Synonym: ansae nervorum spinalium. (05 Mar 2000) |

| vasa nervorum | Blood vessels supplying the nerves. (12 Dec 1998) |
| ramus cutaneus anterior (pectoralis et abdominalis) nervorum thoracicorum | The ventral primary rami of spinal nerves T7-T11 (seventh to eleventh intercostal nerves), which supply the abdominal as well as the thoracic wall; innervate intercostal, subcostal, serratus posterior inferior, transversus abdominis, external and internal oblique, and rectus abdominis muscles, and provide sensory branches to the periphery of the diaphragm, and parietal pleura and peritoneum. Synonym: rami cutanei anteriores pectoralis et abdominalis nervorum intercostalium, ramus cutaneus anterior (pectoralis et abdominalis) nervorum thoracicorum, anterior cutaneous nerves of abdomen, pectoral and abdominal anterior cutaneous branch of intercostal nerves. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ramus cutaneus medialis ramorum dorsalium nervorum thoracicorum | Medial cutaneous branch of dorsal branch of thoracic nerves. See: medial cutaneous branch. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ramus dorsalis nervorum spinalium | <anatomy, nerve> The smaller, posteriorly-directed major terminal branch (with the ventral primary ramus) of all 31 pairs of mixed spinal nerves, formed at the intervertebral foramen and turning abruptly posteriorly to divide into lateral and medial branches, both of which will supply the deep (true) muscles of the back. The medial branch (rami medialis ) of the dorsal primary ramus also supplies articular branches to the zygopophyseal joints and the periosteum of the vertebral arch. In the neck and upper back, the medial branch continues through the deep and superficial back muscles to supply overlying skin; in the lower back, the lateral branch does this. Nomina Anatomica lists dorsal primary rami as "rami dorsales" for each group of spinal nerves: 1) cervical (nervorum cervicalium ), 2) thoracic (nervorum thoracicorum ), 3) lumbar (nervorum lumbalium ), 4) sacral (nervorum sacralium ), and 5) coccygeal (nervi coccygei ). Synonym: ramus dorsalis nervorum spinalium, ramus dorsalis, rami posteriores nervorum spinalium, dorsal branch, posterior primary division. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ramus lateralis ramorum dorsalium nervorum thoracicorum | Lateral cutaneous branch of dorsal branch of thoracic nerves. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ramus meningeus nervorum spinalium | A branch from the initial (mixed) part of each spinal nerve passing in a recurrent fashion back through the intervertebral foramen to supply spinal meninges, the posterior longitudinal ligament, posterolateral periphery of the intervertebral disc, and periosteum of the vertebrae. Synonym: ramus meningeus nervorum spinalium, recurrent meningeal branch of spinal nerves, sinuvertebral nerves. (05 Mar 2000) |
| plexus nervorum spinalium | An intermingling of fibre fascicles from adjacent spinal nerves to form a network; the major plexus's are the cervical, brachial, and lumbosacral. Synonym: plexus nervorum spinalium. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nervi nervorum | Nerves distributed to the sheaths of nerve trunks. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nuclei nervorum cranialium | Groups of nerve cells associated with the cranial nerves either as motor nuclei (nuclei originis) or sensory nuclei (nuclei terminationis). Synonym: nuclei nervorum cranialium. (05 Mar 2000) |
| decussatio nervorum trochlearium | The crossing of the two trochlear nerves at their exit through the velum medullare anterius. Synonym: decussatio nervorum trochlearium. (05 Mar 2000) |
| terminationes nervorum liberae | A form of peripheral ending of sensory nerve fibres in which the terminal filaments end freely in the tissue. Synonym: terminationes nervorum liberae. (05 Mar 2000) |
| rami | Plural of ramus. Origin: L. (05 Mar 2000) |
| rami ad pontem | An alternate term for pontine arteries. (05 Mar 2000) |
| rami alveolares superiores anteriores nervi infraorbitalis | <anatomy, nerve> The branches of the superior alveolar nerve that supply the incisors, canines, premolars, and first molar by their contributions to the superior dental plexus. Synonym: rami alveolares superiores anteriores nervi infraorbitalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
