| hepatic lobule | The conceptual polygonal histologic unit of the liver consisting of masses of liver cells arranged around a central vein, a terminal branch of one of the hepatic veins; at the periphery are located preterminal and terminal branches of the portal vein, hepatic artery, and bile duct, hepatic lobules have anatomical reality in the pig liver or pathologically in humans, when fibrous septa are present. Synonym: lobulus hepatis. (05 Mar 2000) |

| secondary pulmonary lobule | A pyramidal mass of lung tissue whose sides are bounded by the incomplete interlobular connective tissue septa and whose base, which is 1 to 2 cm in diameter, usually faces the pleural surface of the lung; lobule's that occupy a more central position in the lung are not well defined and are considered to consist of three to five pulmonary acini with proximate terminal bronchioles. (05 Mar 2000) |
| simple lobule | The smaller anterior part of the posterior lobe of the cerebellum, demarcated by the primary fissure from the anterior lobe rostrally and from the large caudal subdivision of the posterior lobe caudally. Synonym: lobulus simplex. (05 Mar 2000) |
| slender lobule | The anterior portion of the posteroinferior lobule of the cerebellum, the posterior portion being the semilunar lobule inferior; the two correspond to the tuber of the vermis. Synonym: lobulus gracilis, slender lobule. (05 Mar 2000) |
| superior parietal lobule | The area of the convex surface of the parietal lobe of the cerebrum lying between the longitudinal fissure and the interparietal sulcus behind the posterior central gyrus; it is continuous with the precuneus on the medial aspect of the hemisphere. Synonym: lobulus parietalis superior, superior parietal gyrus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| superior semilunar lobule | The part of the superior surface of the cerebellar hemisphere lying rostral to the horizontal fissure, and adjoining the folium of the vermis. Synonym: lobulus semilunaris superior, anterior lunate lobule, crus I. (05 Mar 2000) |
| quadrangular lobule | The main portion of the superior part of each hemisphere of the cerebellum, corresponding to the monticulus of the vermis; it is divided into two portions, the anterior and the posterior crescentic lobules, corresponding to the culmen and the declive of the vermis. Synonym: lobulus quadrangularis, lobus quadratus, lobulus quadratus, quadrate lobe, quadrate lobule. (05 Mar 2000) |
| quadrate lobule | The main portion of the superior part of each hemisphere of the cerebellum, corresponding to the monticulus of the vermis; it is divided into two portions, the anterior and the posterior crescentic lobules, corresponding to the culmen and the declive of the vermis. Synonym: lobulus quadrangularis, lobus quadratus, lobulus quadratus, quadrate lobe, quadrate lobule. (05 Mar 2000) |
| inferior parietal lobule | The area of the parietal lobe of the cerebrum lying below the interparietal sulcus; it contains the angular and the supramarginal gyri. Synonym: lobulus parietalis inferior, inferior parietal gyrus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| inferior semilunar lobule | The part of the superior surface of the cerebellar hemisphere lying behind the horizontal fissure. Synonym: lobulus semilunaris inferior, crus II, posterior lunate lobule. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lobule | A subdivision of the lobes of the breast. (16 Dec 1997) |
| lobule of auricle | The lowest part of the auricle; it consists of fat and fibrous tissue not reinforced by the auricular cartilage. Synonym: lobulus auriculae, lobule of auricle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| acute primary haemorrhagic meningoencephalitis | A disease characterised by acute onset of fever, followed by convulsions, delirium, and coma, and associated with perivascular demyelination and haemorrhagic foci in the central nervous system. Synonym: acute primary haemorrhagic meningoencephalitis, Strumpell's disease. (05 Mar 2000) |
| acyclic monoterpene primary alcohol - NADP oxidoreductase | <enzyme> From catmint nepeta racemosa; involved in the biosynthesis of iridoid monoterpenes; oxidises geraniol, nerol, and their 10-hydroxy derivatives in the presence of nadp(+). Registry number: EC 1.1.1.- Synonym: monoterpene primary alcohol - nadp oxidoreductase, ampano (26 Jun 1999) |
| anterior primary division | <anatomy, nerve> The larger, anterolaterally-directed major terminal branch (with the dorsal primary ramus) of all 31 pairs of mixed spinal nerves, formed at the intervertebral foramen. Most ventral primary rami, especially those involved in the innervation of the limbs, participate in the formation of the major nerve plexuses (cervical, brachial, and lumbosacral) and lose their identities. Most in the thoracic region, however, remain separate from adjacent rami to become the intercostal and subcostal nerves. Ventral primary rami provide innervation to the anterolateral body wall and trunk. Nomina Anatomica lists ventral primary rami as "rami ventrales" for each group of spinal nerves: 1) cervical (nervorum cervicalium ), 2) thoracic (nervorum thoracicorum ), 3) lumbar (nervorum lumbalium ), 4) sacral (nervorum sacralium )m, and 5) coccygeal (nervi coccygei ). Synonym: ramus ventralis nervi spinalis, anterior primary division. (05 Mar 2000) |
