| 설명 | 사람과 포유류 심장의 우심방과 우심실 사이에 있는 판. 우측 방실구(심방과 심실을 연락하는 구멍) 주위에서 시작되는 세 개의 얇은 판막과, 그 자유연에 부착되어 있는 많은 끈으로 되어 있다. 건삭은 결합조직으로 된 가는 끈인데, 그 반대쪽 끝의 일부는 우심실벽에 부착되고, 일부는 심실벽에서 뻗어나온 유두근에 부착되어 있다. 이 판막장치는 심실이 이완되어 있을 때 우심방으로부터 우심실로 흘러들어간 혈액이 심실이 수축할 때에 심방으로 역류하는 것을 막는 것으로서 왼쪽에 있는 이첨판에 해당된다. |

| 설명 | 심장 내부의 인공판막. 심장의 판막이 어떤 원인으로 손상되어 판막의 기능이 유지될 수 없을 때 이 판막을 성형해서 다시 사용하거나(판막성형술) 인공판막으로 치환(판막치환술)해 주어야 한다. 인공판막에는 크게 두 가지가 있는데 하나는 돼지나 소 등의 생체조직으로 만든 조직판막이고 다른 하나는 금속재질로 만든 기계판막이다. 이 두 판막은 서로 장단점이 있는데, 조직판막은 수명이 10년 정도로 짧은 단점이 있는 반면에 판막 주위에 혈액응고가 적어 항응고제 복용이 필요 없고, 손상이 서서히 일어난다. |

| 설명 | 관 혹은 통로에 있는 막과 같은 주름. 내용물의 역류를 막는다. 1.심장판막: 우심방과 우심실사이의 삼첨판, 좌심방과 좌심실사이의 승모판, 우심실과 폐동맥사이의 폐동맥반월판, 좌심실과 대동맥사이의 대동맥반월판이 있다. 2.정맥판막: 정맥에서 발견되는 내막의 작은 첨 혹은 주름. 탄력성이 적어 역류되기 쉬운 정맥혈의 흐름을 역류없이 정상적인 방향으로 지속되도록 해준다. 3.인공판막: 심장판막부족이나 심장판막협착이 있어 더이상 자신의 판막으로는 생존이 불가능할 때 대신 이식하게 되는 인공판막을 말한다. 크게 동물의 조직을 이용한 것과 그렇지 않은 것으로 양분할 수 있다. 동물의 조직을 이용한 것은 주로 돼지나 소의 판막 또는 심외막 등을 이용하며, 그렇지 않은 것은 특수한 금속을 이용하여 만든다. |

| 설명 | 혈압이란 혈관에 걸리는 압력을 말하는 것으로 대개 특별한 설명이 없으면 동맥의 압력을 말한다. 혈압에는 수축기혈압(systolic blood pressure)과 이완기혈압(diastolic blood pressure)이 있다. 수축기혈압이란 심장이 수축할 경우에 동맥에 걸리는 압력을 말하고, 이완기 혈압이란 심장이 이완할 경우에 동맥에 걸리는 압력을 말한다. 당연히 수축기 혈압이 이완기 혈압보다 높다. 혈압을 말할 때에 예를 들어 120/80mmHg이라고 적는 것의 앞의 것은 수축기 혈압을 의미하고 뒤에 적는 80은 이완기 혈압을 의미한다. |
