a secondary structure occurring in many proteins, consisting of several polypeptide chains running in the same direction (a parallel pleated sheet) or in alternating directions (an antiparallel pleated sheet) and joined by hydrogen bonds between the imino hydrogen of each peptide bond and the carbonyl oxygen of a peptide bond in the next chain over. The pleasure which derives from God is connected with peace whereas the pleasure which derives from sin and the devil causes disturbance. Also, a pleasure which causes pain and guilt comes from the devil and is connected with the passions.
