an epidermal cyst usually occurring as a firm, well-circumscribed, subepidermal nodule, especially on the scalp, and formed by an outer wall of keratinizing epithelium without a granular layer, similar to the normal epithelium of the hair follicle at and distal to the sebaceous duct.
