  • Ocular Physiology - »õâ Functions, activities, and properties of the EYE as a whole or of any of its parts.
Synonyms : Eye Physiology, Physiology of the Eye, Physiology, Ocular, Visual Physiology, Physiology, Eye, Physiology, Visual
  • Oculocerebrorenal Syndrome - »õâ A sex-linked recessive disorder affecting multiple systems including the EYE, the NERVOUS SYSTEM, and the KIDNEY. Clinical features include congenital CATARACT; MENTAL RETARDATION; and renal tubular dysfunction (FANCONI SYNDROME; RENAL TUBULAR ACIDOSIS; X-LINKED HYPOPHOSPHATEMIA or vitamin-D-resistant rickets) and SCOLIOSIS. This condition is due to a deficiency of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate-5-phosphatase leading to defects in PHOSPHATIDYLINOSITOL metabolism and INOSITOL signaling pathway. (from Menkes, Textbook of Child Neurology, 5th ed, p60; Am J Hum Genet 1997 Jun;60(6):1384-8)
Synonyms : Cerebro-Oculo-Renal Syndrome, Lowe Disease, Lowe Oculocerebrorenal Syndrome, Lowe-Bickel Syndrome, Lowe-Terrey-MacLachlan Syndrome, Oculocerebrorenal Dystrophy, Renal-Oculocerebrodystrophy, Cerebro Oculo Renal Syndrome, Cerebro-Oculo-Renal Syndromes
  • Oculomotor Muscles - »õâ The muscles that move the eye. Included in this group are the medial rectus, lateral rectus, superior rectus, inferior rectus, inferior oblique, superior oblique, musculus orbitalis, and levator palpebrae superioris.
Synonyms : Muscle, Oculomotor, Muscles, Oculomotor, Oculomotor Muscle
  • Oculomotor Nerve - »õâ The 3d cranial nerve. The oculomotor nerve sends motor fibers to the levator muscles of the eyelid and to the superior rectus, inferior rectus, and inferior oblique muscles of the eye. It also sends parasympathetic efferents (via the ciliary ganglion) to the muscles controlling pupillary constriction and accommodation. The motor fibers originate in the oculomotor nuclei of the midbrain.
Synonyms : Cranial Nerve IIIs, Cranial Nerve, Third, Cranial Nerves, Third, III, Cranial Nerve, IIIs, Cranial Nerve, Nerve III, Cranial, Nerve IIIs, Cranial, Nerve, Oculomotor, Nerve, Third Cranial, Nerves, Oculomotor, Nerves, Third Cranial, Oculomotor Nerves
  • Oculomotor Nerve Diseases - »õâ Diseases of the oculomotor nerve or nucleus that result in weakness or paralysis of the superior rectus, inferior rectus, medial rectus, inferior oblique, or levator palpebrae muscles, or impaired parasympathetic innervation to the pupil. With a complete oculomotor palsy, the eyelid will be paralyzed, the eye will be in an abducted and inferior position, and the pupil will be markedly dilated. Commonly associated conditions include neoplasms, CRANIOCEREBRAL TRAUMA, ischemia (especially in association with DIABETES MELLITUS), and aneurysmal compression. (From Adams et al., Principles of Neurology, 6th ed, p270)
Synonyms : Oculomotor Nerve Disorders, Oculomotor Nerve Palsy, Oculomotor Nerve Paralysis, Oculomotor Neuropathy, Partial Third-Nerve Palsy, Third Cranial Nerve Diseases, Third-Nerve Paralysis, Total Third-Nerve Palsy, Nerve Disease, Oculomotor, Nerve Diseases, Oculomotor
