| stria terminalis | A slender, compact fibre bundle that connects the amygdala (amygdaloid body) with the hypothalamus and other basal forebrain regions. Originating from the amygdala, the bundle passes first caudalward in the roof of the temporal horn of the lateral ventricle; it follows the medial side of the caudate nucleus forward in the floor of the ventricle's central part (or body) until it reaches the interventricular foramen, in the posterior wall of which it curves steeply down to enter the hypothalamus, with fibres passing both rostral and caudal to the anterior commissure. Coursing caudalward in the medial part of the hypothalamus, the bundle terminates in the anterior and ventromedial hypothalamic nuclei. Synonym: stria terminalis, Foville's fasciculus, Tarin's tenia, tenia saemicircularis. (05 Mar 2000) |

| sulcus terminalis | Sulcus terminalis linguae; a V-shaped groove, with apex pointing backward, on the surface of the tongue, marking the separation between the oral, or horizontal, and the pharyngeal, or vertical, parts, sulcus terminalis atrii dextri; a groove on the surface of the right atrium of the heart, marking the junction of the primitive sinus venosus with the atrium. Synonym: terminal sulcus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| incisura terminalis auris | A deep notch separating the lamina tragi and cartilage of the external auditory meatus from the main auricular cartilage, the two being connected below by the isthmus. Synonym: incisura terminalis auris, auricular notch. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tenia terminalis | A vertical crest on the interior wall of the right atrium that lies to the right of the sinus of the vena cava and separates this from the remainder of the right atrium. Synonym: tenia terminalis, terminal crest. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lamina terminalis cerebri | A thin plate passing upward from the optic chiasm and forming the rostral boundary of the third ventricle; membrane closing the rostral neuropore. Synonym: lamina terminalis cerebri, lamina cinerea, terminal plate, velum terminale. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lamina terminalis of cerebrum | A thin plate passing upward from the optic chiasm and forming the rostral boundary of the third ventricle; membrane closing the rostral neuropore. Synonym: lamina terminalis cerebri, lamina cinerea, terminal plate, velum terminale. (05 Mar 2000) |
| fossa terminalis urethrae | The terminal dilated portion of the urethra in the glans penis. Synonym: fossa navicularis urethrae, fossa terminalis urethrae, Morgagni's fossa, Morgagni's fovea. (05 Mar 2000) |
| linea terminalis | An oblique ridge on the inner surface of the ilium and continued on the pubis, which forms the lower boundary of the iliac fossa; it separates the true from the false pelvis. Synonym: iliopectineal line, terminal line. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ramus communicans nervi glossopharyngei cum ramo auriculari nervi vagalis | <anatomy, nerve> A small branch of the glossopharyngeal nerve which joins the auricular branch of the vagus, conveying tactile fibres. Synonym: ramus communicans cum nervo glossopharyngeo, ramus communicans nervi glossopharyngei cum ramo auriculari nervi vagalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| pontis nervi trigeminalis nucleus | <anatomy, nerve> The term commonly used to designate the nucleus pontis nervi trigeminalis; located in pons lateral to the motor trigeminal nucleus; receives primary sensory (touch and pressure) input via the trigeminal nerve, projects to ventral posteromedial nucleus of thalamus. Synonym: nucleus sensorius principalis nervi trigemini, nucleus sensorius superior nervi trigemini, principal sensory nucleus of the trigeminus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nucleus dorsalis nervi vagi | The visceral motor nucleus located in the vagal trigone (ala cinerea) of the floor of the fourth ventricle. It gives rise to the parasympathetic fibres of the vagus nerve innervating the heart muscle and the smooth musculature and glands of the respiratory and intestinal tracts. Synonym: nucleus dorsalis nervi vagi, dorsal motor nucleus of vagus, dorsal nucleus of vagus, dorsal vagal nucleus, nucleus alae cinereae. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nucleus motorius nervi trigemini | <anatomy, nerve> A group of motor neurons innervating the muscles of mastication (masseter, temporalis, internal and external pterygoid muscles) and the musculi tensor tympani and tensor veli palatini. The nucleus lies in the upper pontine tegmentum medial to the main sensory nucleus of the trigeminus. Synonym: nucleus motorius nervi trigemini, masticatory nucleus, motor nucleus of trigeminus, nucleus masticatorius. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nucleus nervi abducentis | Nucleus of abducent nervenucleus abducentis, a group of motor neurons in the lower part of the pons, innervating the lateral rectus muscle of the eye; unique among motor cranial nerve nuclei in that it consists of two distinct populations of neurons: neurons that give rise to fibres forming the abducens nerve root and those internuclear neurons whose processes cross the midline, ascend in the opposite medial longitudinal fasciculus, and terminate upon specific oculomotor neurons; considered a primary centre for mechanisms controlling conjugate horizontal gaze. Synonym: nucleus nervi abducentis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nucleus nervi facialis | A group of motor neurons located in the ventrolateral region of the lower pontine tegmentum and innervating the facial muscles, the stapedius muscle in the middle ear, the posterior limb of the musculus digastricus, and the stylohyoid muscle. Synonym: nucleus nervi facialis, facial motor nucleus, motor nucleus of facial nerve, nucleus facialis. (05 Mar 2000) |
