The back of a bird's head between the crown and the hind neck. The adjective, meaning 'of the nape', is 'nuchal'. The angle at the rear end of the head is called the 'occiput', for which the adjective is 'occiptital'. From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
