The phenomenon where two colour samples appear close when viewed under one light source but shift in a non-uniform manner under an alternative light source. This is commonly experienced with colours produced by certain dye colorants, changes in the illuminant (tungsten, fluorescent or daylight) create a varying response in the appearance of these colours.
