| 설명 | 심장동맥이란 심장에 혈액을 공급하는 동맥을 말한다. 심장도 다른 근육과 마찬가지로 혈액을 공급받아야 수축을 할 수가 있는 기관으로 심장의 혈액을 공급하는 동맥을 심장동맥이라고 한다. 심장동맥병이란 심장동맥의 내경이 좁아져서 생기는 질환으로 허혈심장병(ischemic heart disease)이라고도 불린다. 관상동맥이 좁아질 경우에는 심장으로 가는 혈액의 양이 적어져서 심장에 충분한 혈액이 공급이 되지 못하므로 여러 가지 병적인 현상이 생긴다. 심장동맥이 좁아지는 데에는 여러 가지 원인이 있을 수가 있으나 주로 심장동맥의 동맥경화증에 의한다. 동맥경화증이란 동맥의 내층에 지방과 콜레스테롤로 이루어진 죽종(atheroma)가 생기는 질환으로 죽종이 생긴 동맥은 죽종이 혈관의 내부로 돌출하게 되어서 혈관의 내경이 작아지게 된다. 심장동맥병은 그 정도에 따라서 협심증(angina pectoris)와 심근경색증(myocardial infarction)으로 나눈다. 협심증은 심장동맥의 부분적 폐쇄에 의해서 평상시에는 증상이 없지만 심장이 많은 활동을 할 경우에 심장에 피가 충분한 만큼 공급이 되지 않아서 생기는 질병으로 평상시에 쉴 경우에는 아무 증상이 없지만 운동이나 과식 등의 원인으로 심장이 많은 운동을 할 경우에 심장에 공급되는 혈액의 양이 모자라서 증상(대개 가슴부위에 쥐어짜는 듯한 통증)이 생긴다. 심근경색증이란 심장동맥의 완전폐쇄에 의해서 심장의 근육이 혈액을 전혀 공급받지 못해서 심장의 근육이 썩는 경우를 말한다. |

| 설명 | 표준 기초대사량과 비교했을 때 개체 기초대사량이 보이는 편차를 표시하는 지수. 기초대사량은 생명을 유지하는데 필요한 최소한의 에너지 대사량이며, 성과 연령이 동일한 건강인의 기초대사량은 체표면적에 비례한다. 이것을 체표면적의 법칙이라고 하며, 1882년 독일의 대사생리학자 M. 브루너에 의해 제창되었다. 체표면적은 신장과 체중에 의해 산출된다. 따라서 성-연령-신장-체중을 알면 표준기초량 Y가 산출되고 실제의 기초대사량 X는 산소소비량과 이산화탄소 발생량에서 산출된다. 그리고 X와 Y의 차이를 Y로 나눈 값(%)을 기초대사율이라고 한다. 경험적으로 얻은 BMR의 간단한 측정법도 있으며 다음과 같은 식으로 구한다. 이 식에서 맥폭이란 최고혈압과 최저혈압의 차를 말한다. BMR(%)=0.75(1분 맥박수 + 0.74×맥폭)－72. BMR이 10% 이내이면 정상범위, +10% 이상이면 기초대사항진, －10% 이하이면 기초대사 저하라고 한다. 기초대사는 공복시(식후 10시간 경과)에 안정된 상태에서 단위 시간당 이용되는 에너지의 양, 즉, 한 시간당, 몸 표면의 1m2당 또는 몸무게 1kg 당 칼로리로 나타낸다. 이것은 개인에 따라 다르며 장기간에는 거의 변화가 없지만 질병 등으로 인해 변동된다. 실측한 기초대사를 표준치와 비교함으로써 질병의 진단 등에 응용할 수 있다 BMR=(실측치-표준치)/표준치 ×100(%)로 나타낸다. |

| 설명 | 음식-운동-정신감동 등 체온에 영향을 줄 만한 여러 조건을 피하여 몸과 마음이 안정되었을 때 잰 체온, 보통 아침에 눈을 뜬 직후에 재며, 여성의 경우 월경 주기에 따라 달라지므로 수태 조절이나 자궁, 난소의 병 진단에 응용한다. 6~8시간의 안정된 수면을 취한 후 아침 일찍 깨어나, 잠자리에서 나오기 전에 체온계를 입에 물어서 측정한다. 미묘한 체온의 차이를 측정하는 것이므로 여성체온계를 사용하는 것이 좋다. 이 여성체온계의 수은구부를 혀의 아랫면에 끼우고서 입을 가볍게 다물고 약 5분 동안 있다가 측정하면 된다. 정상적인 기초체온은 복잡한 성주기의 변화를 보이기 때문에 월경주기에 관한 각종 진단을 비롯하여 임신-유산-이상임신의 진단과 수태조절 등에 응용하는 등 여러 가지 효과적인 자료가 된다. |
