| large cell, immunoblastic l. |
a type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma characterized by large lymphoblasts (immunoblasts) that resemble histiocytes rather than follicular center cells, and have a diffuse pattern of infiltration; the cell population may be exclusively B or T lymphoblasts or a mixture. It has a high degree of malignancy and often grows rapidly. Tumors of predominantly B cells are often associated with a preexisting immunologic disorder such as Sjögren's syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, or Hashimoto's thyroiditis, or with an immunosuppressed state.
