Johne's bacillus A species of gram-positive, aerobic bacteria non-pathogenic for humans. It is the aetiologic agent of johne's disease (see paratuberculosis).

Johne's disease A disease occurring in cattle and sheep, usually manifested by thickening of the wall of the intestine, particularly of the ileum; caused by infection with Mycobacterium paratuberculosis.
