a condition or symptom in which the eyes and skin turns yellow due to accumulation of bilirubin. Jaundice can be caused by hemolysis (prehepatic jaundice), liver diseases (eg Gilberts syndrome or hepatitis) or biliar disorders (eg obstruction of the biliary tract due to gallstone or tumor, posthepatic jaundice).
