| premature contact | A condition of tooth contact's which diverts the mandible from a normal path of closure to centric jaw relation. Synonym: cuspal interference, interceptive occlusal contact, premature contact. (05 Mar 2000) |

| premature contraction | A premature contraction of the heart that is independent of the normal rhythm and arises in response to an impulse in some part of the heart other than the sinoatrial node. Synonym: premature beat. (18 Nov 1997) |
| premature contraction of the heart | When a single heartbeat occurs earlier than normal. This phenomenon can be within normal limits or represent a medically significant arrhythmia. (12 Dec 1998) |
| premature delivery | Birth of a foetus before its proper time. See: premature birth. (05 Mar 2000) |
| premature labour | Onset of labour before the 37th completed week of pregnancy dated from the last normal menstrual period. (05 Mar 2000) |
| premature senility syndrome | <syndrome> Accelerated aging syndrome in which most of the characteristic stages of human senescence are compressed into less than a decade. Defect probably in DNA repair. (18 Nov 1997) |
| premature systole | A premature contraction of the heart that is independent of the normal rhythm and arises in response to an impulse in some part of the heart other than the sinoatrial node. Synonym: premature beat. (18 Nov 1997) |
| infant, premature | An infant born before 38 weeks of gestation. (12 Dec 1998) |
| ovarian failure, premature | Premature failure of ovulation associated with hypergonadotropinism and hypoestrogenism in women under the age of 40. The aetiology appears to be multifactorial and many cases are idiopathic. When follicles are present but the ovaries are unable to respond to gonadotropins, resistant ovary syndrome results and this may be associated with autoimmune disease. Even when there is a loss of ovarian follicles, it is not always complete. Permanent and irreversible loss of follicles is termed premature menopause (menopause, premature). (12 Dec 1998) |
| labour, premature | Onset of labour before term but after the foetus has become viable, usually sometime during the 29th through 38th week of gestation. (12 Dec 1998) |
| foetal membranes, premature rupture | Spontaneous rupture of amniotic sac before the onset of uterine contractions. (12 Dec 1998) |
| aberrant ventricular conduction | Abnormal intraventricular conduction of a supraventricular beat, especially where surrounding beats are normally conducted. Synonym: ventricular aberration. (05 Mar 2000) |
| aortico-left ventricular tunnel | Congenital connection between the aorta above exit of coronary arteries and the left ventricle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arrhythmias, ventricular | Abnormal rapid heart rhythms (arrhythmias) that originate in the lower chambers of the heart (the ventricles). Ventricular arrhythmias include ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. Both are life threatening arrhythmias most commonly associated with heart attacks or scarring of the heart muscle from previous heart attack. (12 Dec 1998) |
| arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia | A congenital cardiomyopathy in which transmural infiltration of adipose tissue results in weakness and aneurysmal bulging of the infundibulum, apex, and posterior basilar region of the right ventricle and leads to ventricular tachycardia arising in the right ventricle. (12 Dec 1998) |
