dentin-bonding agents Cements that act through infiltration and polymerization within the dentinal matrix and are used for dental restoration. They can be adhesive resins themselves, adhesion-promoting monomers, or polymerization initiators that act in concert with other agents to form a dentin-bonding system.
(12 Dec 1998)
dentin bridge A deposit of reparative dentin or other calcific substances which forms across and reseals exposed tooth pulp tissue.
(05 Mar 2000)
dentin dysplasia An apparently hereditary disorder of dentin formation, marked by a normal appearance of coronal dentin associated with pulpal obliteration, faulty root formation, and a tendency for peripheral lesions without obvious cause.
(12 Dec 1998)
dentin globule Calcospherites formed by calcification or mineralization of the dentin occurring in globular areas.
(05 Mar 2000)
dentin permeability The property of dentin that permits passage of light, heat, cold, and chemical substances. It does not include penetration by microorganisms.
(12 Dec 1998)
dentin, secondary Dentin formed and deposited in response to a normal or slightly abnormal stimulus, after the complete formation of the tooth.
(12 Dec 1998)
interglobular dentin Imperfectly calcified matrix of dentin situated between the calcified globules near the dentinal periphery.
(05 Mar 2000)
irregular dentin Morphologically irregular dentin formed in response to an irritant.
Synonym: irregular dentin, irritation dentin, reparative dentin.
(05 Mar 2000)
opalescent dentin Dentin usually associated with dentinogenesis imperfecta. It gives an unusual opalescent or translucent appearance to the teeth.
Synonym: hereditary opalescent dentin.
(05 Mar 2000)
tertiary dentin Morphologically irregular dentin formed in response to an irritant.
Synonym: irregular dentin, irritation dentin, reparative dentin.
(05 Mar 2000)
eburnation of dentin A condition observed in arrested dental caries wherein decalcified dentin is burnished and takes on a polished, often brown-stained appearance.
(05 Mar 2000)
transparent dentin Dentin characterised by calcification of the dentinal tubules as a result of injury or normal aging.
Synonym: transparent dentin.
(05 Mar 2000)
alveolonasal line A line connecting the alveolar point and the nasion.
(05 Mar 2000)
Amberg's lateral sinus line A line dividing the angle formed by the anterior edge of the mastoid process and the temporal line.
(05 Mar 2000)
anocutaneous line The line between the simple columnar epithelium of the rectum and the stratified epithelium of the anal canal.
