| milk colic | Disease caused by the liberation of exotoxins of clostridium perfringens in the intestines of sheep, goats, cattle, foals, and piglets. Type b enterotoxaemia in lambs is lamb dysentery; type c enterotoxaemia in mature sheep produces "struck", and in calves, lambs and piglets it produces haemorrhagic enterotoxaemia; type d enterotoxaemia in sheep and goats is pulpy-kidney disease or overeating disease. | milk hypersensitivity | Allergic reaction to milk (usually cow's milk) or milk products. In infants the hypersensitivity is manifested by colic, vomiting, diarrhoea, rhinitis, wheezing, etc. Milk hypersensitivity should be differentiated from lactose intolerance, an intolerance to milk as a result of congenital deficiency of lactase. | milk line | Bandlike thickening of ectoderm in the embryo extending on either side from just below the axilla to the inguinal region; in human embryos, the mammary glands arise from primordia in the thoracic part of the ridge, the balance of the ridge disappearing; in some lower mammals which give birth to a litter of young, several milk glands develop along these lines.
