moderate ptosis of an eye, with retraction of the eyeball, miosis, and flushing of the affected side of the face, due to lesions of the cervical sympathetic nerves, part of the symptom complex called Horner syndrome. Called also p. sympathetica.

sinking in of the eyeball, ptosis of the upper eyelid, slight elevation of the lower lid, constriction of the pupil, narrowing of the palpebral fissure, and anhidrosis and flushing of the affected side of the face; caused by a brain stem lesion on the ipsilateral side that interrupts descending sympathetic nerves.
