heterozygosity

heterozygosity
the probablity that a given loci will be heterozygous in a randomly selected individual. eg the heterozygosity of a human enzyme encloding gene is about 7%.

heterozygosity
Having different allelic genes at one or more loci in homologous chromosomes (ie having the same genetic location). If the same allele occupies both loci in a pair of chromosomes, the individual is said to be homologous for the allele. If not, the individual is said to be heterozygous for the allele.
