| heat stroke |
A life threatening advanced state of heat illness characterised by a failure of the body's thermo-regulatory system. In essence, the body sends too much blood to the surface of the skin in an attempt to cool itself down. This blood is diverted away from organs (eg, the heart), which then begin to shut down.
